Under the Moon (Shantik, Any)

The wind blew ferociously through the night. The night, night the dark night seemed so peaceful, a full moon rode high in the sky. Not a single cloud in the sky, the stars shone brightly. The trees rustled in the wind. The earth was covered in slowly melting snow. Eyes scanned carefully the horizon.

Uin walked slowly exploring the lands of Arnlan. She searched the horizon, getting to get to know the lands. She lifted her head to the sky and eyed carefully the yellow moon. Arnlan, seemed so peaceful at night, she liked it. She smiled to herself and continued walking through the snow. She had still to meet the alphas, to explore the land, to- she was cut off her train of thoughts as her stomach growled. She licked her maw, she needed to eat. She walked to her right, toward a clearing. There in the middle of the clearing was a gray hare, snuffling in the grass. She crouched down and explored the clearing with a quick glance, two hares she had missed a brown hare that was found more to the border of the clearing.

She prepared to jump at the hare. She eyed the clearing one more time and jumped at the hare, she landed directly in front of it. It panicked and leapt to its right. She quickly strode after it, twisting and turning around the trees. She snapped at its fluffy tail, but the hare hurried away from Uin. Her long legs carried her around the terrain with ease. In a few more seconds she had caught the small mammal between her paws. She licked her maw as she could already taste the hare. She grabbed it in her jaws and shook it until it wouldn't move anymore. She lay it down on the ground and she lifted her head as she heard a few footsteps close to her, she lowered her head and growled softly.

[Shantik]

"No need to be so touchy, girl," A cool, seething tone replied to her snarl. "I was only here to catch a rabbit. Nothing more or less."

The small-bodied male stepped from the brush, having set his own rabbit he'd caught down a couple feet away. To describe him, he was lithe, grey in color except for patches of blue across his snout, tipping his ears, stroking the back of his legs before wrapping in front of his shoulder. His back legs also blue in color, as was a ring around the center of his tail with a blotch on top, his chest was stroked with white. His most peculiar feature, however, was the long growth of fur over his right eye. The other eye was a dark midnight blue, gleaming when he gazed ay Uin.

Immedietly, a smirk appeared on his lips and he bowed. "My name is Mirage. What do you go by, femme?" He asked, his tone still as silky as before.

"No need to be so touchy, girl. I was only here to catch a rabbit. Nothing more or less." he said curtly.

She eyed the wolf carefully and scoffed. She positioned one of her paws over her catch, defending it. The wind blew, brushing both wolf's fur, adding to the slightly tense atmosphere. She lifted her head and looked at the wolf and said:

"So was I" she said looking down at the hare under her paw.

"My name is Mirage. What do you go by, femme?" he said while bowing.

"I'm not sure about what 'femme' means" said Uin in a mocking yet polite tone "But my name is Uin"

She took a step toward the male, still protecting her catch. She grabbed the hare between her jaws and took it a little farther away from the male. She took a piece in her jaws a ate it hungrily. She eyed the male again before taking another bite.

"I'm hungry" she excused herself, for eating without a lot of an introduction.

Mirage watched her carefully, ignoring her protective outlook. He pulled a white hare from behind him, grinning. "I see. Well, I have my own, so, again, uncurl your lips and keep the snarl back. I can do fine without." He shrugged, sitting back and gnawing a leg off his own prey. "In the meantime, Uin...I've not heard of you around here..."

[Akree]

"In the meantime, Uin...I've not heard of you around here..." said Mirage.

Uin raised her head, of course not, she thought, I'm new. She gnawed at one of the hares rib bones. She moved the bone out of the way and turned to look at Mirage again.

"No, I've basically just been allowed into the pack" she said.

She gorged the hares meat and caressed the carcass between her paws. She lifted herself of the ground and turned to look at Mirage, munching on his own catch.

"Have you been here long?" she asked Mirage.

No, of course not. But he wasn't about to tell her that. "You could say that." He replied, smiling slightly as he continued to munch on his food, keeping his one eye closed so she couldn't tell by looking at them he was, sort-of-kind-of lying. "Who all do you know of this pack?"

Uin left the hare aside, she wasn't feeling hungry anymore. She turned to look at Mirage, he looked doubtful for a moment and quickly said:

"You could say that."

She chuckled "You haven't have you" she said in a mid-laugh.

Mirage closed his eyes and it made Uin want to laugh. She turned to look at the full moon, through the branches of the trees.

"Who all do you know of this pack?"

Uin expression changed to a thoughtful one, whom had she met, there was NightBlood, the dark female sentry and Ziro the overly energetic pup and Levy the young wolf. After a moment of silence, she decided not to use names.

"NightBlood, the sentry and a few young wolves" she said grinning.

She walked closer toward Mirage and with a polite smile she said "And who have you met?"

[Shantik]

"Ah, so you have met NightBlood as well?" He asked, chuckling, deciding to overlook her reaction to his first statement. "It's funny...for some odd reason, she really did not seem to want to accept me....besides her, I've met a two-personality wolf named Mortilas Umbra." He shrugged, as if this kind of encounter happened every day. "Not many asides them. This pack seems rather anti-social." Through his words, he seemed to develop an old accent; bridging on Latin.

[Akree]

"Ah, so you have met NightBlood as well? It's funny...for some odd reason, she really did not seem to want to accept me....besides her, I've met a two-personality wolf named Mortilas Umbra." said Mirage, chuckling.

Uin tilted her head to the side "I wonder why, she seemed really nice, although I confess I got a little frightened as well, it's not every day you see a wolf that size rushing toward you" she said smiling.

Uin thought a little about Mirage's last words, a double personality wolf, that must be weird. She shook her head and thought that's nuts, how can someone even communicate well with the same wolf and two different personalities. She sat down where she before stood and listened to Mirage.

"Not many asides them. This pack seems rather anti-social." said the wolf.

"I doubt that, maybe there's something else, well at least I don't think a whole pack can be anti-social, it wouldn't be much of a pack then" she said voicing her thoughts, not thinking something like that could be possible.

Mirage watched her, flicking his tail. He rolled his shoulders as he listened, and grinned at her words of NightBlood. "Yeah, especially when you're my size or below..." Not that he was calling himself short, mind you... why, the very thought... "But anyways, I suppose I've just been around the wrong crowd. There's bound to be some wolves around here." He puased before leaned forward to nose her. "Like you, for instance..."

[Akree]

-"Yeah, especially when you're my size or below..." said Mirage, Uin raised an eyebrow, why did he just call himself short? "But anyways, I suppose I've just been around the wrong crowd. There's bound to be some wolves around here." He nosed her, she shifted her footing a bit and turned to look at Mirage as he spoke again "Like you, for instance..."

-"Huh?" was Uin's only reply "What do you mean?" she asked turning around to face Mirage.

This wolf was a bit to friendly for her liking, it could be that she was that she was tired and grumpy, but everything was possible. She wondered why the wolf had a wig of hair to cover one eye, but she thought that if he liked it she would leave it at that. She shifted her footing again and looked around in the woods.

Mirage flicked his ears forward, pulling a semi-innocent look. "Social types, I mean. This may be a mistake on my part, but you seem awful friendly." She might take that as an insult... alas. Might as well take the risk.

-"Social types, I mean. This may be a mistake on my part, but you seem awful friendly." said Mirage

-"Oh that." Uin said still unsure what he meant "I just like meeting pack mates" she said with a shrug. "What about you, you seem like the type to piss a lot of wolves off." she said with a mischievous grin.

Her tail flicked playfully behind her. Mirage did indeed seemed like the type to love trouble, or trouble loved him. She gave a grin in the wolf's direction.

It was kind of amusing how right she was. Mirage flicked his tail in amusement, a purr rising in his throat.

"Of course. And I've done such a wonderful job so far."

He commented, getting back to his paws and stretching. After officially fluffing his sleek grey and blue fur up, he reached back and licked a spot of dust from his shoulder, rather cat-like actually. No concerns whatsoever, it seemed.

Looking back up at her after he was done, he settled back more on his haunches, single visible midnight eye still gleaming with a mix of curiousity and intent.

"So just how did you come across this pack? Lost, rejected, something along those lines?"

He seethed, an almost meaningful grin sliding across his maw.

Mirage flicked his tail and Uin shot a quizzical glance at the male. She turned to face Mirage, curious of what he was going to say. A slight purr coming from his throat.

-"Of course. And I've done such a wonderful job so far."

-Her tail flicked playfully behind her "Really? Well that's interesting." she said with a giggle and a friendly smile.

-After a while of grooming Mirage turned to look at Uin again "So just how did you come across this pack? Lost, rejected, something along those lines?"

-"I actually came by choice" she said with a grin "You?"

Her tail flicked behind her, she was curious as to what had happened to the male. Though if he didn't wish to answer he would get not pressure from her.
