In the darkness of her den, NightBlood stirred. She'd been sleeping for the passed few days, albeit being interrupted now and then by a shouting pup. Once in a while, she'd get up and patrol the borders, but that was only after she had made sure the pups weren't going to wake up. Though the pups were a paw full at times, the Beta of Arnlan couldn't help but anticipate the start of the war that was promised from Sallin. Each time she sorted out something trivial, she wished for something tougher.
It would seem that her war-trained mind had begun to call for her true home on the battle field. The thoughts of old fights made her sigh.
"Living just isn't hard enough..."
Suddenly needing to move, NightBlood stood up, waking two of her pups. Sighing once more, she decided to take the two out for a walk. After talking to Crow, the three were able to slip silently from the den.
As the pups bounded ahead in front of her, NightBlood lifted her eyes to watch what she could of the sky beyond the tree limbs, praying to any gods that would listen.
~Burn me alive inside... Living my life's not hard enough. Take everything away...
Turning her red gaze to her pups once more, she smiled as she found Zuka on top of Surethim, pinning him to the ground.
"Did you see that, mom?!" she asked excitedly.
"No way. That was too fast," she lied playfully, grinning at the strength of her daughter.
"HA!"

Sneaking about was not Armageddon's strong point, surprisingly. Sure, he was thin, but he was tall, lanky, and bony. Not exactly streamlined. However he seemed to do a good job of it today. He snuck beneath the brambles and leaves, leaving no trace of a sound. He was on the prowl, his mind set on his hunt and his prey. And finally... he spotted it. Two of 'em. Jackpot.
He waited until they were level with his gaze and he bounded out of the bushes into the clearing.
"HAAAAAARRRRRRR!" His jaws opened wide and snarled loudly at the two little puffballs that were his unofficial stepchildren. He ended his tirade with a laugh, wondering if he scared them or not. It was probably the latter, since they'd been training with Mortil and probably learned to expect the unexpected, or in his case, the expected.
He smiled warmly at them, chuckling, and looked up to NightBlood, tail swishing serenely.

"HAAAAAARRRRRRR!"
"DADDY!!"
Well, that would make it official. Absolutely nothing could scare Zuka. Much like her mother, who had caught barely a glimpse of 'Geddon shoulders a moment ago. Her tail began to wag furiously, but she said nothing until he made his appearance known to the kids.
It may have been that clue that had alerted Zuka, though she remained oblivious until her stepfather (or, in her opinion, biological father) came roaring out of the brambles, to which she reacted with nothing short of an enthusiastic giggle rather than a fearful scream.
Surethim, on the other paw, was merely surprised at first until he recognized the crooked nose of this lanky individual. Once his eyes turned toward his mother, he rolled his eyes at the rather annoying wolf. This was welcomed by a hard cuff from Zuka's right paw.
"Ow!"
Ignoring the scream of pain, NightBlood walked up to the dark male and aimed a few loving licks at his cheek.
"I assume you'd like to join us on our little walk," she said when she pulled away, slowly following her children as they hopped forward along the trail, "How have you been?"

Armageddon was a bit taken aback by the complete lack of puppy-screams, save for the one made when Zuka cuffed Surethim over the head. His expression shifted from crestfallen to loving as he licked the top of both their heads. "I see you two have been in enough training to expect me. I thought I was doing well today." He said, rolling his aquamarine eyes and grinning crookedly.
Lifting his head level with NightBlood's, he licked her cheek affectionately as she did to him.
"I assume you'd like to join us on our little walk,"
"Well of course!" His expression shifted to that of feigned shock as he glanced at Surethim and Zuka, "I couldn't leave you alone with these two! They look like they could glean a grizzly bear to bare bones!" He chuckled and bumped NightBlood in the shoulder playfully.
"How have you been?"
"All right..." he shrugged dubiously. He had been taking turns babysitting for the little ones, but as he watched them play his thoughts circled like incessant bats around him... they were just pawns in a bigger game. Perhaps he wouldn't see some of these faces after the War. It depressed him to think this way, but it was reality. And he hated reality. As well as with his personal life, he was getting increasingly edgy over the deathly silence of the activity involving his "forced" family, that is, Patamon's minions. They usually had a plan of ambush, but things have been... oddly uneventful since he'd joined Arnlan. Maybe they'd finally lost his scent. Maybe they were planning something bigger. But all these thoughts that pressed on his brain and threatened to spill out of him in front of NightBlood and the pups were held in with a powerful reserve, and the only result of any of these things roiling inside him was a forced smile at NightBlood.
"So uh, what about you?"

"All right..."
NightBlood gazed at her mate curiously. He seemed distracted by his thoughts. Probably thinking about how he should have had his own growing family by now. At least ones who were related to him. It was true. It wasn't fair. Then again, life wasn't fair. He'd just have to wait... at least one more month. She'd have the proper strength to bare his children by then. Until that time, she'd have to focus on her current brood.
"So uh, what about you?"
"Mommy!!"
NightBlood turned to a little voice behind her. A little gray-brown bolt was rushing at her, ears and tail forced down. Orem slid to a stop and clung to her back leg. By this time, Zuka and Surethim had joined them to see what the deal was. The Beta lowered her head and took a step toward her scared pup.
"I had a bad dream..." he said meekly.
"Oh, it's alright now. Dreams can't hurt you. C'mon."
Reassured, but not at all convinced, Orem let go of her leg. However, he kept his pace even with his mother's and walked under her.
"Scardy cat," Surethim teased.
"Leave him alone!"
With a sharp bite to the ear from Zuka, Surethim blasted forward, trying to escape his sister's wrath. NightBlood chuckled as she walked, now thoroughly entertained.
"I've been fine."

Well in deep unconscious dreams Khenti wasn't completely aware of what had been going on outside the den. He probably had continued with his easy sleep, that is if trashing by his side had made his eyes snap open. Immediately in red alert Khenti lifted his head just in time to see Orem scrambled hurriedly away from the den. Forgetting everything else, Khenti's first instincts was to go see what was wring with his brother, hefting himself into his large puppy paws.
-"Uh...what?" came Dakarai's sleepy voice as Khenti lifted himself.
Dakarai had been sleeping comfortably on Khenti's shoulder, away from Surethim's teasing. Sleeping comfortably until Khenti raised himself to his paws, knocking Daki's head against the floor of the den.
-"Dakarai, don't worry I'll just check on Orem." muttered Khenti, but Dakarai had hefted himself into his paws, looking sleepily at Khenti, he was coming, that was sure.
Khenti rolled his eyes, but didn't complain as he scrambled away from the sleeping shapes of his brothers and sisters and outside, following his mother's trail. Dakarai watched as Khenti darted towards his mother and decided it would be better to follow him. The two were near enough to hear their mother's croon.
-"Oh, it's alright now. Dreams can't hurt you. C'mon."
-"Orem, are you all right?!" blasted Dakarai, voicing Khenti's thoughts, but somehow making the words annoying rather than worried.
-"You were trashing about." added Khenti in a low voice only sure to carry towards Orem, maybe Zuka, concern hinting clearly on his tone, while Dakarai gave a wide eyed stare at Khenti.
-"I've been fine."
Only now did the two pups raised their heads to see the skinny black wolf whom they both knew and loved. Khenti wagged his tail while Dakarai all but jumped up and down on what would have been his greeting ritual.
-"DADDY!"[/b][/color] they both called out in a chorus, wagging their tails excitedly while Dakarai took a leap, landing in front of 'gedon.
But Khenti's concern was still on his older brother, waiting for Orem's shy reply. He simply watched as Dakarai paused in front of Amaggedon, looking up, towards the black skinny wolf's head, his maroon eyes glinting with joy. Clearly he had some short attention span, clearly he had forgotten about Orem just as soon as he caught sight of his dad. Well that was his brother, Khneti thought with a grin.

Armageddon glanced down at the ball of fluff zooming toward his mother.
"Mommy!!" Orem crowed, "I had a bad dream..."
"Oh, it's alright now. Dreams can't hurt you. C'mon."
As he walked he thought of the horrible dreams he had as a pup. Bad dreams he did not yet know the meaning of, bad dreams of dark figures with cold, grey eyes. Armageddon stopped and turned in a semicircle to face Orem tucked safely beneath NightBlood. "Fancy a ride on the Army train?" He said, with a smile curling up one side of his muzzle. He lowered his nose to the ground, creating a ramp for Orem to climb on. "DADDY!" the two newest guests, Dakarai and Khenti, exclaimed in unison. Dakarai leapt in front of Armageddon, eyes glinting joyfully. Armageddon chuckled, the smile showing in his eyes. "Come on, I can take multiple passengers!" he said, motioning for Dakarai and Khenti to climb atop his shoulders.

{{Orem is Beige, Zuka is Crimson X3 }}
"Fancy a ride on the Army train?"
"I DO!"
Zuka jumped forward at Armageddon's face, hoping to crawl up his nose and onto his head. However, the speed of the jump would make her slip for a moment, her hind leg falling over the black wolf's muzzle. She would managed to hang on and pull herself over his eye, being careful not to place a clawed foot there. Orem, in the mean time, watched sourly as his sister got the first ride. Once she was out of the way, he placed his front paws on the darker male's muzzle, but hesitated before climbing up.
"Are you sure it's okay?" he asked, looking worriedly at the big emerald eyes in front of him.
"Orem, are you all right?!"
"You were trashing about."
"I'm fine," answered the timid pup, ears folding as he watched his brothers approach.
"Come on, I can take multiple passengers!"
With that said, Orem began to scramble up Armageddon's nose, not wanting to be the last one. He wanted a good seat, as it were, and Zuka may have already called dibs on the front seat.
"Want a ride, Surethim?" NightBlood asked the scowling pup.
"No thanks. I got one from Akree the other day."

-"Fancy a ride on the Army train?"
Both Dakarai and Khenti raised their heads in unison. Dakarai quickly looking at Army with wide eyes and a cocky grin. Khenti flashes his teeth, but turned to look at Orem to make sure he completely fine before rushing forward to get a seat.
-"I DO!"
After Zuka scrambled rather playfully up Army's muzzle and setting herself at the front of the black wolf train, Dakarai scrambled rather forward almost running over Orem, having to stop abruptly. rather annoyed his waited for his brother to remove his furry butt from the entrance.
-"Are you sure it's okay?"
Dakarai groaned quietly while Khenti walked, pausing after Dakarai, which annoyingly stomped off to sit besides Khenti. Looks like Army had a line.
-"I'm fine,"
-"Come on, I can take multiple passengers!"
Khenti looked doubtfully at Armaggedon, not that he doubted that Army wouldn't take 'em for a ride, but unsure of the black wolf could take that weight. So he took a step back and motioned for Dakarai to go ahead. Dakarai scrambled lazily over Armageddon's muzzle, almost stepping on the black wolf's eyes. Then, carefully edging behind Zuka and Orem.
-"Want a ride, Surethim?"
-"No thanks. I got one from Akree the other day."
Khenti had no idea who Akree was, but he resisted the huge to roll his eyes dramatically. Only Surethim would deny a ride from the black lanky wolf that was daddy.
Once set on Army's back, Dakarai leaned slightly on Orem, trying to make sure he had something to grab on...just in case....he would just bite Orem's tail, that would hold him still...
