There is the little rascal, be very still, slowly, don't get to cocky.
Akree held her breath as she watched the large, plump rabbit that went from left to right snuffling around peacefully. Her eyes followed every and each of its movements carefully, not moving an inch until the time was just right. She watched to get it perfect so the rabbit's squeals of terror wouldn't alert the rest of the prey. Why couldn't it get closer? she though in frustration. But she knew she had to be patient, if she wanted to keep hunting.
She kept herself low, hiding between the long-ish grass, it did provide more cover that she though possible. But it also could be because her back was covered in black fur. As if obeying her silent command the rabbit drew closer. Without giving it a second though, Akree launched at it, so quick that the rabbit didn't know what was happening until it was to late.
With excellent speed and ease she had the rabbit firmly on her jaws and before it could even think twice she shook it violently and snapped its spine. Satisfied, she headed back, where her other catch awaited her.
She had taken Pollux's advice and was, like the scout had said, taking food to the storages. She was glad of having something to do and felt some satisfaction at knowing that, in some way, she was helping the pack as well. Of course, the reason she had caught more than she could carry was because she had though to have one for herself, but she decided to get the two plump rabbits to the storage first.
Soon she stumbled on her previous catch, she had so neatly hidden it that she almost forgot it was there, but she soon had the two rabbits dangling from her jaws. A short run away was the hold, she dropped the heaviest of the rabbits to the storage and went farther away to it her catch in peace.
She was mainly hunting to distract herself, because she didn't want to think what would happen when the Beta or the Alphas found her, she doubted they would bring more than a couple of questions, but question made her a bit nervous. she was worried, mainly, that they didn't see any potential in her and that she would be stuck and not rise in rank. She nibbled at the rabbit bone's nervously, why did this trouble her? It wasn't like they would chase her away, Pollux had clearly stated no one leaves Arnlan...with their lives.
She grumbled angrily to herself, cut it out, she kept telling herself and was quickly distracted by the loud crunching of the rabbit's bones. But she knew why she kept going about the idea on her head, she had never been in a pack before and only met a few strays. She shook her head angrily at herself, she needed a distraction, a big one.

Nothing on the border...I guess I can let off for today.
Mortil turned from the border, padding silently away. He had finished his daily patrol, and couldn't find anything out of the ordinary. It was ticklish work, juggling two ranks at once. It was hard to find time to attend to all of his responsibilities. Once Nightblood's pups would start to talk, he'd probably have even less time to train...
The ash-grey wolf sighed and started for his den. What he needed was some rest, and maybe a drink of water. He was tired and a little off-kilter; he hadn't slept for a day.
He sniffed the air experimentally - what was that scent? The Lord Warrior became instantly alert, adrenaline shooting through him. He wasn't familiar with that scent...but it had to be a pack member...no one could penetrate this far into Arnlan. He followed it curiously, curiosity overwhelming his fatigue.
Mortil relaxed a little when he could smell the scent of Arnlan on the wolfess that he beheld. It was still faint, but the smell was there nonetheless.
"Hello, huntress. I haven't seen you in our dark land before." Mortil said quietly, padding towards her. He circled once before sitting. "Are you new?"
((Blah, sorry for my post...it is teh suck.))

((No worries))
By now the rabbit was just a pile of bones before her. She still had its leg bones on her jaws, crunching on it quite loudly trying to distract herself. The loud crunching sound had almost completely blocked the sound of faint paw steps, faint, almost out of place, but still there. She stopped her crunching and lifted her head, ears alert and attend to the faint steps.
-"Hello, huntress. I haven't seen you in our dark land before." Mortil said quietly, padding towards her. He circled once before sitting. "Are you new?"
Akree met the ash gray wolf's gaze, trying to remain polite and calm as the male circled her. She flashed a polite smile, appreciating the company and the small compliment about her being a hunter, she barely considered herself much more than a member of the pack. She lifted herself from the ground, sitting up and keeping her ears shot forward, showing the male he had her total attention.
-"Yes, very new" she said with a nod "Haven't met anyone other than Pollux", she said with a polite smile, she appreciated the female's humor and was glad she was the first pack mate she met.
She stopped to gaze at the lump of bones at her paws and frowned at herself at the mess of crushed up bones she had made. Though she was surprised to see how clean they were, not a trace to the meat that had clung to them a few minutes back. Akree had been a bit to lost in her thoughts to notice.
-"I'm Akree by the way" she added politely after a few seconds had ticked by.
Now she took time to look at the male more carefully. She couldn't say why, but he looked important, like one-very-good-warrior-important, he looked like a fighter. But other than that he looked like any other wolf, he had weird eyes and a scar, but that would only mean he had been in a fight. She gave it a rest not wanting to loose herself in though and ignore the wolf, shaking her head lightly.

"I'm Akree by the way"
Mortil dipped his head once. "My full name is Mortilitas Umbra. Call me Mortil. I am an Officer here in Arnlan."
When Akree mentioned Pollux, the warrior gave a knowing smile. Pollux's rough-and-ready demeanor was...interesting, to say the least.
He caught the huntress eying him oddly, and he subconsciously altered the way he sat. He felt...arrogant somehow. Perhaps his rank was getting to his head... What was he thinking? He was just tired, that was all.
"I'm sorry." he said, shifting his weight, "I'm a bit fatigued, is all."
He tilted his head in his usual way before speaking again.
"Well now, are you finding Arnlan to your liking?"

((MY laptop is cursed!!! every time I tried to type a response for this something would happen that I had to close the page @.@))
Akree took her time to measure the male's reaction, mostly he seemed pleased, dipping his head as he began to introduce himself. She smiled and shifted her footing, curling her tail in front of her paws in a catch manner.
-"My full name is Mortilitas Umbra. Call me Mortil. I am an Officer here in Arnlan."
-"Mortilitas Umbra" she repeated, musing over the name, committing it to memory "Well Mortil is a pleasure meeting you" she said when she was sure she wouldn't forget, nodding once.
Officer...she mused over the title, taking in how he carried himself in his point of view, clearly a warrior. He seemed to notice her questioning gaze and quickly set himself in a more conferable position, she chuckled darkly at this. Very self-conscious, maybe he didn't like showing arrogance like so many else would have obviously done so. This was clear, if not the first thing he would have done was to march in with his chin tipped demanding obedience, showing authority, she smiled inwardly at this, she already liked this male.
-"I'm sorry." he said, shifting his weight, "I'm a bit fatigued, is all."
-She chuckled with a bit of humor, that the male would probably never guess "It's not a problem at all Mortil, I don't mind" she said with a polite smile.
-"Well now, are you finding Arnlan to your liking?"
-She instantly beamed, her opinion of Arnlan couldn't possibly be better, she loved it here and she felt like every lump of snow, every rock had been sculpted to fit her hunting pleasures, nothing that the female would enjoy more than hunting, besides the occasional playful brawl "Very much so" she said with a tilt of her head and a crooked smile "Haven't seen anything that displeases me to tell you the truth" she said with an inward grin.

"Haven't seen anything that displeases me to tell you the truth"
Mortil smiled. "Really? Well, that's good to hear."
He sighed, the only outward sign of his fatigue. "You've come at a trying time, Akree." he said seriously. "We smell war on the winds, and those in authority are quite busy. I don't know when you'll receive a rank or a task."
The warrior half shrugged. "But enough of Arnlan's troubles. That is not the purpose I came today...All you need to do is be ready if the time comes. Now, I beg of you, tell me about yourself."

-"Really? Well, that's good to hear."
She was taken a bit aback by the question, really? it seemed as if Mortil enjoyed little of Arnlan or clearly despised it. She wrinkled her nose and rose a questioning eyebrow. But quickly let the subject drop, with a nod. Weird, what had made the male say that. She turned her ears forward as the male began to speak again.
-"You've come at a trying time, Akree." he said seriously. "We smell war on the winds, and those in authority are quite busy. I don't know when you'll receive a rank or a task."
-She considered that for a moment, thinking before she commented "I can be patient when required and if it's war that's coming than I'll prepare for it" she said with a sigh, clearly not appreciating the idea, but showing that she was a willing fighter, a warrior if it came to that.
-"But enough of Arnlan's troubles. That is not the purpose I came today...All you need to do is be ready if the time comes. Now, I beg of you, tell me about yourself."
-She almost smiled at his hidden curiosity, but it couldn't be completely unjustified, she rolled her eyes at the thought of what exactly the male refereed to "tell me about yourself" "What exactly do you want to know about lil 'ol me?" she said almost making it a joke.

Mortil caught the questioning look. "Perhaps you misconstrue me? Arnlan...is the only place I've ever been able to call home after fleeing my old pack."
You mean slaughtered. Umbra hissed smugly in Mortil's head.
Mortil ignored him. "I am welcome here. My companions and packmates accept me for who I am. For that, I am grateful. I would rather die than ever leave." He laughed. "Of course, ironic that my duty is to ensure that those who attempt to leave without the permission of the Alphas do not."
"What exactly do you want to know about lil 'ol me?"
Mortil shrugged. "I make it my business to try and learn all I can about my packmates. If nothing else, it gives me more reason to protect them....that is, if I needed anymore to begin with." He chuckled.

-"Perhaps you misconstrue me? Arnlan...is the only place I've ever been able to call home after fleeing my old pack."
Ah, she though to herself, from the corner of her eyes she though the male flinched, but it happened so quickly that she dismissed it for her own imagination. Akree turned her head and smiled politely, half in apology, half in humor. She flicked her tail as the sound of far away prey came to her ears.
-"I am welcome here. My companions and pack mates accept me for who I am. For that, I am grateful. I would rather die than ever leave." He laughed. "Of course, ironic that my duty is to ensure that those who attempt to leave without the permission of the Alphas do not."
-She chuckled "funny" she half muttered to herself, humor dancing in her eyes ""You say accept me for who I am" like you committed murder" she muttered sarcastically.
-"I make it my business to try and learn all I can about my pack mates. If nothing else, it gives me more reason to protect them....that is, if I needed anymore to begin with."
-Akree considered that for a moment "Then prepared to be bored to death" she said in a theatrical manner flashing her white fangs in a wicked grin. "Now where do I start...." she mused "Well hunters killed my parents before I could barely remember them so that ends that subject" she politely pointed out "I'm self taught" she said simply, turning towards Mortil before she continued to blab away at anything else her mind could remember.

"You say accept me for who I am" like you committed murder"
Mortil winced. "What makes you say that?" he asked quietly. He wouldn't tell her unless Akree pressed the subject, something he didn't exactly mind...but it was still a delicate subject when first brought up.
"I'm self taught"
"Really? That's interesting...most hunters aren't as skilled as you when they're self taught."
He paused for a moment. "My mother was a hunter...but I wanted to be like my father. A warrior. A great warrior..."
Mortil laughed. "The dreams you have as a pup, hm? They all seem so foolish when I look back on mine. Yet, here I am."

-"What makes you say that?"
Akree noted how the male winced. She raised an eyebrow, she normally guessed right, the male was fit enough to commit a slaughter if he wished. She shook her head, it didn't concern her.
-"Body language says more than words" she answered simply "You just winced, so that means that there is some truth on my little guess." she shook her head lightly "But is not of my concern, so let's just leave it at that."
-"Really? That's interesting...most hunters aren't as skilled as you when they're self taught."
-She considered that for a moment, then grinned "Maybe I'm a bit more independent than other hunters." she chuckled.
- "My mother was a hunter...but I wanted to be like my father. A warrior. A great warrior..." Mortil laughed. "The dreams you have as a pup, hm? They all seem so foolish when I look back on mine. Yet, here I am."
-"I couldn't actually say much of my parents..." she muttered "But you're obviously a great warrior, so I guess it wasn't that foolish." she said with a smirk.
